Apple, the tech titan known for its game-changing innovations, has once again made waves in the digital world with some major announcements. As an Apple enthusiast and tech aficionado, I am thrilled to dissect these updates and consider if the new Apple Vision Pro will be my next big splurge. If you want to watch the full presentation, here is the official link to the WWDC2023!

Stepping Into a New Reality with Apple Vision Pro

One of Apple’s most ambitious and risk-laden hardware products in recent years is the new mixed-reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro. This ground-breaking device, combining virtual and augmented reality, was hailed by CEO Tim Cook as a “revolutionary product”. The Vision Pro promises to redefine the way we interact with technology, each other, and our surroundings.

Resembling a pair of ski goggles, the Apple Vision Pro overlays virtual images onto live videos of the real world. Apple is demanding a hefty $3,499 for this device. I’m eager to see if this revolutionary product manages to secure its place in the market next year!

Apple’s Focus on VR over AI

While most tech firms are deeply engaged with artificial intelligence (AI), Apple seems to be charting a different course, emphasizing virtual reality (VR) over AI. The company announced an autocorrect update that leverages machine learning and a language model for greater accuracy and even “sentence-level corrections”. Apple also plans to expand its predictive text capabilities. Despite this, AI was not a major theme in the announcements, unlike in other companies.

The Ultra-Thin 15-Inch MacBook Air

Apple unveiled a new hardware product on Monday – a 15-inch MacBook Air equipped with Apple’s custom-made M2 processor. Touted as the world’s thinnest laptop, this MacBook Air is only 11.5 mm thick and weighs a mere 3.3 pounds. With a promise of 18 hours of battery life, significantly faster performance than Intel-powered MacBook Airs, and a six-speaker sound system, the new MacBook Air starts at $1,299 ($1,199 for educational institutions).

Revamped Features for FaceTime, Messages, and More Plus Updates for iPad, Watch, and AirPods

iOS 17 is set to receive ‘contact posters’, allowing iPhone users to design a custom image to appear during calls. A new feature called Live Voicemail transcribes a caller’s message in real-time, enabling users to decide whether to ignore or answer the call. The iPad will also be receiving some popular existing lock screen features from the iPhone.

Apple’s Take on the Metaverse

Contrary to other tech firms, Apple did not mention the term “metaverse” during its announcements.

As I digest these announcements, I’m intrigued to see whether these bold moves will pay off for Apple and if the Apple Vision Pro can make a significant impact on their profits. After all, isn’t that what we all wonder about every time Apple unveils their latest and greatest?

What are your thoughts??
