How do you ground children, but at the same time empower them? After a lovely weekend spent with my children, I have been thinking and reflecting a lot about parenting. In this video, you can find out how I want to instill tradition and discipline, but at the same time teach my children freedom and courage for new things.

The Importance of Grounding

When I talk about grounding, I mean integrating traditions and discipline into daily life. This includes fixed routines, clear rules, and consequences. In our fast-paced world, these elements often get lost, but they provide children and adults with a crucial foundation and stability.

In our home, it works like this: the daily routine is clearly structured. We wake up at 7 AM, have breakfast at 7:30 AM, and start school at 8 AM, followed by lunch and a nap for the younger ones. In the afternoon, there’s a program, and at 6 PM, we have dinner. After that, we go swimming at 6:30 PM before starting the evening routine at 7 PM, with bedtime at 7:30 PM.

This predictability and routine offer children important grounding. They know what to expect, which creates security.

The Necessity of Wings

But grounding alone is not enough. It is equally important to give children the freedom to make mistakes and try new things. This applies to employees in a company as well. Overly strict micromanagement leads to frustration and stifles creativity. Instead, they need the space to make decisions independently and learn from their experiences.

This balance between strict discipline and flexible freedom is not easy to maintain. It requires constant adjustment and sensitivity to the individual needs and abilities of the children and employees.

The Right Dose Makes the Difference

As in pharmacology, the dose makes the poison. There is no perfect formula that works for everyone. Finding the right balance is an ongoing process and requires constant attention and adjustment.

Final Thoughts

I hope these thoughts help you find your own way to bring balance into your life and your children’s upbringing. It’s a continuous learning and adjusting process, but with awareness and commitment, we can master this challenge.

I wish you a good evening and a wonderful time with your family.
