On day 16 of the 90-day challenge, I’m taking you on “a day in my life”. As a CEO, what does my typical and ideal day look like? Which time management rules do I pay particular attention to? Find out in this article.

The Day Begins Early

I hope your day is going well so far. Crypto prices are quite volatile – up and down. Yesterday, there was a Fed meeting and some CPI numbers, which weren’t really surprising. The prices ended up where they started. So, it’s a good time to focus on what truly brings output: personal productivity. That’s exactly what today’s post is about.

Morning Routine: Early Rising and Family Time

I usually wake up at 5 AM. I’m currently quite successful at maintaining this routine. The first two hours of my day are dedicated to tackling my to-do list. At 7, my kids wake up, and it’s important for me to spend time with them at breakfast. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I also drive them to school. It’s a cool time with the kids, and often my wife joins us. On the way back, we have a bit of time to talk, listen to music, or just goof around. This time is really good for family bonding.

Productive Phases: Focus and Triggers

After the family breakfast, I get to my productive work. I try to incorporate two 90-minute highly productive work phases. I don’t use any specific technique like Pomodoro; I just set a timer on my phone. It helps me stay focused. Today, I was preparing presentations and working on contracts. Next week is the launch of my book “Die Weltformel,” and there’s quite a bit to prepare.

An important tip from me: Set triggers for yourself. Music or certain places can help you get into work mode. For instance, I often listen to classical music when writing my book. When I have a call, I often do Walk and Talks, walking around during conversations. This works particularly well for me.

Midday Routine: Family Time and More Work Phases

At midday, I have lunch with my family. My kids come back from school, and we eat together. After that, I continue with my work. In the afternoon, I often have team calls or work on projects. I try to minimize emails and messages, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. It’s important not to spend too much time on emails.

Evening Wind-Down: Relaxation and Exercise

In the evening, I spend time with my family at dinner. Sometimes we take a quick dip in the pool. After that, it’s bedtime for the kids. I use this time for exercise or time with my wife. Between 9 and 10 PM, I go to bed to ensure I get enough sleep.

Tips and Tricks for More Productivity

Finally, a few tips for you:

  1. Set Triggers: Certain places and music can help you get into work mode.

  2. Use a Timer: A timer on your phone can help you stay focused.

  3. Minimize Distractions: Block certain websites to avoid spending time on social media.

  4. Email Hygiene: Handle emails mainly in the morning, after lunch, and in the evening.
